Snapshots This Week

1 || Snowpocalypse 2014, Hothlanta, Snow Jam '14. I lived through it and I survived it. I can't believe how unprepared Atlanta, my city, was for this event. Poor planning on our government's part. I'm just so lucky that I live on campus and could just enjoy the snow for its beauty.

2 || Favorite Picture of the Week. I made this sandwich on a whim during a snow day because it was a summation of what I had in my apartment--Nutella, crunchy peanut butter and a banana I stole from the dining hall. *shh* The lighting from the snow outside my window reflecting sunlight just made it look like the most scrumptious sammich ever.

3 || Stuck in Love. Such a good movie. I watched it on a recommendation from a friend and I was absolutely blown away. I'm adding it to the list of movies that perfectly represent the genre I love.

4 || Valentine's Greeting Cards from Papyrus. If you know me, you know I loooove a good greeting card. I seriously could blow a whole lot of money on greeting cards and stationary for people. That being said, Papyrus has some of the best Valentine's Day cards I've seen this year. They got a little saucy with it and it is actually perfect. I found the best one for Daniel.

5 || Noosa Yoghurt. This is my guilty pleasure of yogurts. I fell in love with it from a free sample that was offered on campus one day. It's a bit expensive so I only limit myself to two containers, but you get so much and its so healthy for you!

Snapshots This Week

1 || Say Anything by Tristan Prettyman. I can't stop listening to this song. It's so beautiful.

2 || Disney's Frozen. Finally got around to watching this movie. It's absolutely perfection and I feel bad for thinking it wouldn't live up to the hype. (Also perfect timing with the second polar vortex swirling around)

3 || Kitten Bouquet. ThinkGeek is fueling the inner crazy cat lady in me with this super awesome substitute for roses on Valentine's Day.

4 || Vagina Monologues. After seeing VM four times, I am finally going to participate in it this year! I found out today that my part will be My Angry Vagina and I'm so excited!

5 || Her Campus Blogger Network. Living Snapshots got accepted into the HCBN which will open up a lot of doors for me as a blogger. I'm so excited about this opportunity!

Beautiful Bras

Okay ladies, this one is for you.

I recently found out about this wonderful online shop called True & Co. from reading about it on Just Georgia Peachy. It's not your average undergarment store. First of all, you take a quiz about your current bras so they can determine if you are actually wearing the right size. Second of all, to make sure you don't buy the wrong size based on their suggested, you can try on different bras at home for free! That's right--free shipping (to you and returning) and no obligation for you to buy and you get to play dress up with beautiful bras in your own space! It's the best bra idea ever. I don't know about you guys, but I always felt so awkward trying on bras in department stores or even places like Victoria's Secret. It's so nice to be comfortable in your own room and have the option of trying the bras on under your favorite clothes.

Also it was especially nice for me because True & Co. suggested I try a bigger size than I have been wearing and some of the things they sent me didn't fit. The best part about returning the bras you selected for home try-on is that you can give feedback on why you didn't like particular bras so that True & Co. can better suggest you other bras--it's a whole personalized shop!

I did wind up finding one bra that I was absolutely in love with. It's called Marielle and it fits like a dream. I'm just imagining wearing it under light and flowing shirts come spring and summer.

I can't wait to do business with True and Co. again. I highly suggest it for anyone looking for some new undergarments or anyone who just wants to feel pampered!

Happy Half Birthday to Me

Today marks my half birthday as being 21 years old. Normally I would realize after the fact that I'm 21 and a half, but I had a friendly reminder in my inbox yesterday from Vera Bradley.

My favorite print by Vera Bradley is Ellie Blue. I own a few things in it and it's absolutely gorgeous. The scary part is Ellie Blue was introduced in Spring of 2012 (I think). That means it's hardly around anymore and it's impossible to find in stores--also everything online is almost sold out. But the plus side of it being an old pattern, is everything is already half off. So I took full advantage of my half birthday!

I bought a Hipster in Ellie Blue:
Normally this bag would cost $60, but because of all the deals I got it for $18. I love crossbody bags and this one will actually be big enough to hold more than the current bags I own. I'm super excited. Oh and icing on the top of the cake--I ordered this yesterday and today Ellie Blue is sold out in this style. Looks like I was lucky enough to get the last one!

Staying Warm

This year for Christmas I got the world's most perfect jacket for The Day After Tomorrow weather the US is currently facing--the Tommy Hilfiger Faux-Fur-Trim Hooded Parka.

After Christmas I thought I wasn't going to ever have a chance to wear it because the temperature was in the 60s, but today when I walked to class it was 7 degrees outside!

Proof of my frigid walk this morning to my 8 am.

It was absolutely the most perfect outerwear I could have for days like yesterday and today--and the best part is that because it's a parka, it keeps my butt warm. I keep joking about it with people, but it's absolutely true. I have such a long torso, and it's nice that I don't have to worry about pulling down this jacket to make sure my hips are fully covered and not have to worry about how I hold my bag when walking to make sure it doesn't cause my coat to ride up slightly and leave me with a cold lower back. Oh, and the hood also keeps my face warm.

How are you staying warm in these record low temps?

New Year, New Planning

I'm kind of in love with calendars--last year I had a calendar, a paint chip calendar I made from Pinterest, and my May Book Agenda. So in the spirit of planning, this year I will have a planner, an agenda and a desk calendar (plus the paint chip calendar if I decide to change it from still saying September.. ha.)

I hadn't planned on having a desk calendar, it just happened. You know the "I'm going to target for only one thing and coming home with a bunch of stuff because it was cute" ordeal? Yea, I definitely do that all the time. I may have gone in for headbands, but I came out with a beautiful calendar.

I think what sold me on it, is that it is made by Sugar Paper. I recently read about them on one of the blogs I follow and visited their site. Everything was gorgeous, but definitely not at a price point I felt comfortable with. The greatest thing about seeing their beautifully simplistic style on a desk calendar in Target is that it was something I could afford! So naturally, I bought it.

I'm so looking forward to planning out my final semester at Georgia Tech once all my syllabi are posted and I can't wait to have this gorgeous calendar in my dorm room!

Total Blog Overhaul

Even though I didn't mention this in my New Year Resolutions, one thing I really want to do more of this year is blogging. I got into the blogging circuit a bit last summer and found some wonderful people who write blogs I love reading. I want to join in on the fun with writing and sharing my thoughts and ideas about things.

There's nothing that this blog will particularly aim for, but I did want to make sure I at least had an eye-appealing layout to write on. That's why last night I waded through the internet looking up tutorials and everything else under the sun to help me make my blogger mine. The finished result is what you see here--I hope you enjoy it! (I sure did while making it)

Resolutions of 2014

 New Year Resolutions: 2014

  1. Graduate from Georgia Tech
  2. Find a job
  3. Eat healthier--pretty sure this one always makes it on there, probably remorse from Thanksgiving onward in the previous year
  4. Exercise more--after graduating, not having the CRC will stink. I should take advantage of it now
  5. Be more creative--sewing, taking pictures, just anything really
  6. Go with the flow more
  7. Create a morning routine that doesn't involve rolling out of bed and practically sprinting to class.
  8. Work on my faith
